What are you up to this Summer?

If you live in the Northeast, than you know how vibrant our world becomes during the summer. Long sunny days, nights with the perfectly warm breeze, lush greenery on every corner, and the outdoor hidden gems (anyone say farmers market?) makes our little part of Earth so magical. That extra Vitamin D helps us get outside to soak up the myriad of benefits that this season has to offer. Whether you want to stay close to home or are up for a day trip, here are a few ways to boost your mental health by connecting to nature.

Hike More, Worry Less.

Have you ever noticed you've been watching TikToks or scrolling Facebook for a little bit too long? Have you ever come home from a long day and realized your mind has been stuck on a pesky, negative thought? If the answer is yes, congratulations, you are officially human! Spending time in nature allows us to take a moment to disconnect and come back to ourselves. Increasing our oxygen intake through cardiovascular movements triggers the body's relaxation response, reduces anxiety, balances the nervous system, and enhances cognitive function and mental clarity. If you're not up for a hike, no worries, a walk around the neighborhood will do just fine.

Indulging in these nutrient rich, seasonal mocktails recipes is the perfect way to learn about the health benefits of the plants around us.

Mint aids in digestion, has anti-inflammatory properties, and increases mental clarity while chamomile soothes the body all over by aiding in digestion and reducing anxiety leaving you feel relaxed (and maybe a little sleepy). Limes, lemons, and raspberries are powerful antioxidants and honey's antibacterial/anti fungal properties create the perfect natural remedy for when you're feeling under the weather. Crafting healthy mocktails is an intentional choice that nourishes your mind and elevates your mood, one sip at a time.
