Psychotherapy for Veterans, First Responders & Military Personnel
You've spent years doing a job that most people will never fully understand. The training, the culture, the weight of what you've witnessed or carried — none of that disappears when the shift ends or the deployment is over. For many people in high-intensity service roles, the hardest part isn't the job itself. It's what comes after.
Therapy isn't something that comes naturally to people in these fields. Asking for help can feel like weakness, even when you'd never apply that standard to anyone else. We understand that, and we work with it rather than around it.

What brings people in
The people we work with in this service are often dealing with:
-
Trauma from critical incidents, combat, or cumulative exposure over years of service
-
PTSD or symptoms that have been managed but never fully addressed
-
Hypervigilance, sleep disruption, or difficulty shutting off
-
Anger, emotional numbness, or disconnection from people they care about
-
Identity shifts after retirement, discharge, or leaving a high-intensity role
-
Substance use that started as a way to cope
-
The particular pressure of being the one others depend on
How we work
Care here is trauma-informed, culturally grounded, and built around your actual experience — not a generic clinical framework applied to someone who happens to have served.
Your clinician will not ask you to be vulnerable before trust is established. Sessions can be direct and practical. We work at your pace, and we focus on what you want to change, whether that's functioning better at work, reconnecting with your family, sleeping through the night, or working through something you've been carrying for years.
Treatment may draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to shift patterns that are no longer serving you, and other evidence-based approaches selected based on your specific situation and goals. We also accept Tricare, recognizing that access to care matters as much as the quality of it.
Who we work with
This service is available to:
-
Active-duty military personnel
-
Veterans
-
First responders, including law enforcement, firefighters, and emergency medical professionals
-
Healthcare workers and others in high-stress helping roles
-
Family members of those in service roles who are navigating the impact on their own wellbeing
You do not have to have a formal diagnosis to benefit from therapy. If the work is affecting your life, that's enough.
What to expect
The first session is straightforward. Your clinician will ask about what's bringing you in, your background, and what you're looking to get out of therapy. You won't be pushed to disclose more than you're ready for, and you won't be handed a diagnosis before we've had a real conversation.
From there, the plan is built around your goals. Some clients come in for a specific issue and a clear endpoint. Others are working through something longer term. Both are valid.
Most new clients are seen within the same week of reaching out.
Fees and insurance
We accept Tricare and several other major insurance plans. Private pay, out-of-network superbills, EAP programs, and sliding-scale arrangements are also available. Contact our office to confirm your coverage before your first appointment.
Common questions
Will therapy actually help, or is it just talking?
It depends on what you do with it. Therapy isn't passive, and the approaches we use are evidence-based — meaning they've been tested and shown to produce measurable results. That said, it takes time and it takes engagement. If you've tried therapy before and it felt like a waste of time, it's worth considering whether the fit or the approach was the problem rather than therapy itself.
Is what I share confidential?
Yes, within professional and legal limits. Your clinician will explain those limits clearly in your first session. Nothing is shared without your consent outside of situations required by law.
