Hi and welcome. Thank you for taking this time to join me here. My name is Devin Solar (Dev S: he/him) and I practice as a mental health counselor with a limited permit as I pursue my licensure in mental health counseling. “As you start to walk on the way, the way appears. -Rumi

I am a human being on planet Earth practicing presence. My counseling is informed by both my
experiences and education. I believe the counseling process works well when it is collaborative
and community-oriented while being approached with compassion and curiosity. My aim is to
integrate a Person-centered approach that is trauma-informed with strategies and skills from
Motivational Interviewing and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I recently received a Masters of
Education in Mental Health Counseling from CUNY Hunter and have also completed a
Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from SUNY Binghamton.
I am also licensed by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation as a
professional guide in hiking and backpacking. I work for a non-profit conservation and
recreation organization based in the Northeast that is beginning to build a walking/hiking
community based out of New York City and Harriman State Park. What a time to be here!
I have now spent years recovering my health through engagement with treatment and
collaboration with professionals after struggling with neurodivergence as well as substance use
from my teenage years into young adulthood. I find peace in being present and am content in
sitting in stillness while also finding fulfillment in far-out adventures and taking along a try-hard
attitude. Natural spaces and walking in the woods are at the center of my focus during free time
but I do sit down at the drum set to make music often and study eight limbed yoga.
